ความคิดเห็นที่ 3 Death Rate Drops During Doctor Strike In Israel Death Rate Drops During Doctor Strike
The June 10, 2000 issue of the British Medical journal reports on an interesting statistic that has occurred in Israel. It seems that three months ago physicians in public hospitals implemented a program of sanctions in response to a labor dispute over a contract proposal by the government. The article stated that the Israel Medical Association began an action in March to protest against the treasurys proposed imposition of a new four year wage contract for doctors. Since then, the medical doctors have cancelled hundreds of thousands of visits to outpatient clinics and have postponed tens of thousands of elective operations.
To find out whether the industrial action was affecting deaths in the country, the Jerusalem Post interviewed non-profit making Jewish burial societies, which perform funerals for the vast majority of Israelis. Hananya Shahor, the veteran director of Jerusalems Kehilat Yerushalayim burial society said, "The number of funerals we have performed has fallen drastically." Meir Adler, manager of the Shamgar Funeral Parlour, which buries most other residents of Jerusalem, declared with much more certainty: "There definitely is a connection between the doctors sanctions and fewer deaths. We saw the same thing in 1983 when the Israel Medical Association applied sanctions for four and a half months."
In response Avi Yisraeli, director general of the Hadassah Medical Organization, offered his own explanation, "Mortality is not the only measure of harm to health." He goes on to say that, "Elective surgery can bring about a great improvement in a patients condition, but it can also mean disability and death in the weakest patients." https://www.heart-disease-bypass-surgery.com/data/articles/67.htm | โดย: good for health [22 ก.ย. 53 20:57] ( IP A:58.8.7.114 X: )
ความคิดเห็นที่ 4 Safdarjung Hospital doctors call off strikeNEW DELHI: Over 1200 doctors of the capital's Safdarjung continue to be on strike on Wednesday even as patients bear the brunt. The govt threatened action against the striking doctors after talks with them were inconclusive.
Minister of state for health Dinesh Trivedi visited Safdarjung hospital late on Tuesday night, but the doctors refused to budge and demanded better security.
The doctors are on strike after a patient allegedly beat up a resident doctor. The doctors claimed one of their female colleagues was manhandled by some outsiders on Sunday when a patient succumbed to dengue.
Patients at Safdarjung Hospital will suffer on Wednesday as doctors have decided to continue their strike. More than 1000 doctors, including medical students, of the hospital went on strike on Tuesday demanding deployment of government-owned security agency in the hospital.
Doctors have said they will abstain from work on Wednesday. This may hit OPD services. On Tuesday, OPD services were partially affected in the afternoon and in the casualty area and which hospital administration deployed a few ITBP jawans.
The doctors did not attend duties throughout the day. Their meeting with the minister of state for health Dinesh Trivedi and the hospital administration failed to yield any result.
"The minister only gave us verbal assurances. When we sought quick deployment of personnel from government security agencies, he threatened us of stern action," said Dr Chandra Bhan, president of Resident Doctors' Association. He said doctors will not end the strike if security services are not transferred to CISF or any other Government-owned security agency in the hospital. Private agencies, he added, are not trained to handle services here and often doctors are beaten up and manhandled by outsiders.
Meanwhile, the patients suffered. "They are returning patients. My daughter is suffering from dengue and her platelet count is less than 30,000. But doctors asked me to take her to other hospital," said Kamla Devi, a resident of Sarita Vihar.
Though the hospital appointed consultants in the casualty section, due to non-cooperation of doctors, emergency services were affected and many patients claimed they were denied treatment. "We have spoken to agitating doctors and assured them that steps will be taken to improve security. Now, if they do not call off strike, stern action will be taken," said an official. Sources said the hospital might invoke Essential Services Maintenance Act.

ความคิดเห็นที่ 5 Rajasthan Doctor Strike : When Doctors Dont Value Human Lives September 7th, 2010 by admin
Consider this. Relatives of a patient attack doctors in some hospital (MDM Medical College). Doctors strike back and police is called to intervene .Police resorts to lathi charge and in turn sixty doctors/students get injured. After effect?. Doctors of Rajasthan go on strike paralyzing medical services. Jodhpur is worst hit in the strike and whopping 3500 residential doctors are said to be on strike.
Doctors are demanding that police personnels involved in lathi charge must be suspended and they want meeting with rajasthan home minister for the issue. The strike has not been over three days and the tussle between police and doctors is coming at high price.
Since the strike according to media reports 31 people have died since no doctor was available to serve them. Thirty One humans lives have been lost. Lives which were invaluable , lives which had zeal to live and lives which were cut short because doctors forgot their oath and want to get their ego satisfied first. Their honor is more than cost of human lives and they are holding state government at ransom .Meet our demand or else see people getting killed. We have heard such direct/indirect threats . We have heard such threats by kidnappers or naxals or taliban or laskhar ae toybas or extremists but seeing people die because doctors wont serve them is not what we expect from someone who is well educated doctor.
Dont doctors have right to protest against something which they think is injustice?. Dont doctors have right to protest for defending their self respect and honor?. Obviously they do have right to protest. Doctors have every right to launch a complain against injustice and also sit for dharna if need arises but are doctors justified in putting at stake lives of innocent people?. What is their fault? What have they done wrong?. Why should a father loose his son or son loose his father, wife loose her husband or husband loose his wife and children loose their parents or brother loose their sister because police lathi charged on doctors over some incident which took place in hospital?
I am all for right to protest but doctors who protest at cost of lives of people need to be condemned. They can find better way of protesting than getting innocents killed. While doctors are demanding that police personnel be suspended because 60 doctors and students got injured , what should an ordinary citizen of India demand from government as thirty one people have got killed?. Shouldnt these doctors booked for criminal offense and charge of murder?. They didnt kill these people but surely did facilitate in patients getting killed.
As doctors strike saga is unfolding with government requesting with folded hands and threatening doctors at same time , I am worried that more people would die till the strike gets over.
As concerned citizen of India , I appeal to parliament of India to have strict laws against strikes as far as something that deals with human lives in concerned. As this hub is being written we already have bharat bandh called by trade unions. We have seen so many bandh called by one or other body that it wont be wrong to say that India is nation of festivals and bandhs. Still India is second fastest moving economy in the world and that is itself an big achievement because strikes, bandhs and holidays have been deeply rooted in our workforce.
Coming back to doctors strikes,I appeal to parliament of India that any strike which can be threat to human life directly or indirectly must be barred . To safe guards interest of doctors/nurses and other such services parliament can provide alternate ways with strict deadline orientation. For e.g. grievance section where such service people can file a complain and it has to be dealt within seven days.
Yes we do have essential service act but it needs to be invoked.Instead of that we should pass a law stating strikes which deals with humans life would be illegal and all grudges, grievances would be dealt using alternate ways.
I support doctors quest for justice but at same time I condemn doctors negligence towards their duty.I wish families who lost their kin,all the strength they need to recover from this worst phase of life. | โดย: กลัวไม่จริง [22 ก.ย. 53 21:04] ( IP A:58.8.7.114 X: )
