   Richard Harvey Mandolin and Recorder
Richard is famous in the UK and around the world as a classical composer and conductor, the creator of many stage and screen scores and a dazzling performer on an extraordinary range of instruments. He developed his remarkable woodwind technique as a schoolboy, but soon took up the guitar as well, which quickly led on to a lifelong fascination with the mandolin. Over the years, Richard has played the mandolin in all sorts of contexts, most notably as part of a 30-year touring duo with the great classical
guitarist John Williams. He has also been the featured soloist with many fine ensembles,
including the London Vivaldi Orchestra. Richard has happily played second fiddle to
his long-time friend, mandolin virtuoso Graham Preskett, in many concert performances of
Vivaldis wonderful G Major Concerto for Two Mandolins. Richard is also a highly respected
player of (and composer for) the recorder. His very first collection of concertos, with Monica
Huggett directing, was recorded in the early 1980s and immediately hailed as a breakthrough in
reviews by the most demanding critics, such as Gramophone magazine. Richard makes this
welcome return to Chiang Rai direct from Hong Kong (which saw the triumphant world premiere of his Recorder Concerto, with Michala Petri and the City Chamber Orchestra of Hong Kong, in 2009) and previously from conducting the majestic Blue Planet Live! show in a two-day Christmas spectacular at the Guangzhou Opera House.

   Graham Preskett mandolin
Graham Preskett gained his Masters Degree in Classics from Cambridge University and is an Associate of the Royal College of Music. He has appeared as a mandolin soloist with the London Mozart Players and in duo with guitarist Craig Ogden and Richard Harvey. Versatile and multi-talented, his playing can be heard on numerous movie soundtracks: as one of the three mandolins on Captain Corellis Mandolin, the blues harmonica on Thelma and Louise and Chicken Run, tango violin on Moulin Rouge, Irish fiddle on Moll Flanders and banjo for the Irish team in Harry Potters Quidditch World Championships. As a composer he has written the soundtracks to movies such as Something to Talk About, Muppet Treasure Island and Arthur Christmas and TV documentaries such as Frenchmans Creek, and Billy Connollys World Tour of Scotland and World Tour of Australia. Graham Preskett is one of Londons most sought-after session musicians, having worked with the likes of Cher, Van Morrison, Meat Loaf, The Bootleg Beatles and The Moody Blues. He has also arranged the music for CD recordings by Jon Bon Jovi, Tom Jones, Sir Paul McCartney and Larry Adler. In concert he has partnered Richard Harvey and John Williams, and has appeared with Deep Purple at the Albert Hall. In 2011 he conducted the City Chamber Orchestra of Hong Kong and played Irish fiddle alongside Davy Spillane for a sell-out concert at the Forbidden City in Beijing, China.
